My practice is located in Linwood, New Jersey, and is focused on family law. The reason why I chose family law is easy: in my opinion, it is the most important area of law, because our families are the center of our universe. If you have a bad day at work, you go home and your home is where you want to relax. However, when your home is no longer your port in the storm, you want to call my office and schedule a consultation to explore how you can find peace again.
I have always wanted to practice family law, and I have focused my academic career to be at my best to serve you today. I attended Richard Stockton State College of New Jersey, and graduated with Highest Honors and Program Distinction in Political Science. What better place to study the resolution of disputes than in the history of politics. After being accepted at various law schools, I chose Rutgers School of Law – Camden, because I could commute to law school and be home so that I could make dinner for my children. I juggled babysitters, pediatrician appointments, soccer, etc., all while studying to be a lawyer. I understand the challenges of being a stay-at-home parent as well as being the parent who has worked more than one job to support their family.
After I graduated from law school in 1992, I was fortunate to be accepted as a judicial clerk to a family law judge and he was elevated to Presiding Judge of the Family Part during my clerkship. The experience of being a law clerk to a prestigious family law judge has been invaluable.
Cynthia Brassington, Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney
I continued to develop my skills as a family law attorney and now sit as a panelist on the Matrimonial Early Settlement Panels in both Atlantic and Cape May Counties. I also taught Family Law as an adjunct professor for Atlantic Cape Community College. I am certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Matrimonial Law Attorney. Please review the brochure as to “Why You Should Use A Certified Matrimonial Law Attorney.” I am honored to sit on the Family Law Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Each month, I meet with some of the most talented lawyers in the state to review and discuss upcoming legislation and the elevation of family law and protecting the rights of New Jersey citizens.
Whether you are going through a divorce, dissolving a civil union, having to make tough decisions about custody and child support, facing an alimony obligation, need spousal support, faced with dividing your assets and debts in equitable distribution, a victim of domestic violence, or having to defend yourself against allegations of domestic violence, you need an experienced family law attorney to protect your rights.
